Lawful Wedded Rights: Marriage Equality for All

October 22, 2009: What is civil marriage equality? It's about ALL people having access to rights, responsibilities, protections and obligations. The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) must be repealed and we need to move forward on a federal level for equal rights for members of the GLBT community.

Speak with our guests panelists - Kate Kendall, Esq., Executive Director with the National Center for Lesbian Rights; Ian Palmquist, Executive Director with Equality NC; Tracy Hollister, Public Policy Researcher; and Jimmy Creech, Former Pastor, United Methodist Church - to learn more about your rights, regardless of sexual orientation, and to join the fight for marriage equality for all.

This event will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Campus Cinema, Witherspoon Student Center. Brought to you by the UAB Diversity Activities Board and the GLBT Center.

Also, the movie In Pursuit of Equality will be shown on October 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Campus Cinema and October 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Green Room at Talley Student Center.
