The Diversity Committee recognizes that our student community is comprised of thousands of people from just as many backgrounds. We work to help students become more aware and appreciate other backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives , and from this recognize and appreciate their own similarities and differences.
The Diversity Committee has two subcommittees: the Black Students Board and the International Activities Council. The main Diversity Committee has dual roles; it works with both of these subcommittees to plan programs in their respective areas, and also strives address other aspects of diversity, including, but not limited to, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and religion, through inspiring programs and activities.
The largest event planned by the Diversity Committee is Unity Week. Unity Week is a series of events which bring students together to learn about the different aspects of diversity. The week ends with NC State University's annual International Festival, planned by the International Activities Council. It is then followed in the Spring by the Pan Afrikan Festival, organized by the Black Students Board and A Taste of NC State organized by the Diversity Committee.
